Jewellery that can educate a child August 16 2018

If you have read my latest blog you will know that I am really excited to be exhibiting at the second Art4Africa exhibition next month.

Art4Africa Exhibition

The Old Chapel House,
Riseley Road,
Keysoe, MK44 2HT
6th - 9th Sept 2018
9.00am - 6.00pm daily
The purpose of the exhibition is to raise funds for Rise Africa UK, a charity founded by Olivia Faulkner  to support and facilitate the education of vulnerable children in Tanzania. In the UK we expect a good education as a right for our children. In Tanzania only the lucky few children and any education at all.  I was impressed both by the passion and drive of the young founder, Olivia and the support and commitment of her parents, Christopher and Amanda. I knew I wanted to to more to help. I decided that I would very much like to design a piece of jewellery which be sold to raise funds for this very worth while charity.
It was important to me that the jewellery design reflected that the charity was based in Africa, but also that it was in keeping with my design portfolio. The Acacia tree was the obvious choice for me and also the founder, Olivia. I wanted the design to be simple , elegant and very wearable so that it would appeal to as many people as possible. Each piece is finished by hand and has both a high polished and matt finished surfaces.
Each beautiful sterling silver pendant is hung on a sterling silver 18 inch chain and presented in a beautiful box. There will be a limited number of only 250 pendants made and each will be allocated a unique limited edition number and certificate.
The cost of each pendant is £72.00  of which  £42.00 will be donated to  the charity. £42.00 is the cost of sending a child in Tanzania to a private primary school for one month.
